Kermit Kermits

The Kermit memes are legion. Our kids weren’t that interested in Sesame Street and didn’t spend much time with the frog in early childhood, so he doesn’t have a lot of extra appeal for them as a meme character. 

But the meme subgenres of Sad Kermit or self-harm Kermit are somehow compelling. 

This video in particular, where first we see Kermit’s hand(?) playing the first few notes of “Another One Bites The Dust” on a piano, but he is singing instead: “I really just want to die...” The next image is of him swinging from a noose in a bedroom, with an Elmo in the background. 

Why is this so hysterically funny? 

Really, I am asking. 

There is of course  the “Kermit Suicide” angle. Previously, more than one video like “I am going to Kermit Suicide” in which the frog throws himself off a building, received millions of views.

If Cookie Monster hanged himself, it just wouldn’t be as hilarious, would it?
