Given the climate of Kindergarten chauvanism, Ansel rarely takes napkins that only feature female superheroes.
 
The sarcastic juvenile Raven on the right is much more age appropriate, but I am afraid that it was the chest on the adult version on the left that sold this napkin today

Raven appears in various levels of bodily exposure and facial obfuscation in the many iterations of the Teen Titans.  We have been reading the "New 52" Teen Titans, sort of.  I find it hard to follow, and my sons are mostly interested in what everyone is wearing and whether there are any new weapons for Red Robin. 

I considered adding a word bubble for the Raven on the right... something like "Nice outfit." or "Say Hi to Dad for me." but decided it was better to leave it alone.

In last night's episode of "Teen Titans Go!"  Trigon granted Robin the physique that perhaps, he has always wanted.

I have to observe that in other iterations of Teen Titans Robin, his primary character flaws were probably not vanity and fatuousness.  But he's certainly more funny as a vain idiot.

My kids thought the whole thing hysterically funny. 
Batman, however, would not be impressed.

Beast Boy as a Yorkshire Terrier

I had been avoiding Garfield for the canine superhero series as I thought picturing Beast Boy as a dog was redundant.  But the question of the mysteriously disappearing costume made me think I should give it a shot.  As my kids would point out: sure he can transform from a single cell organism to a whale in moments, but where does the costume go?  That makes the whole thing implausible.

I don't think Beast Boy is on record anywhere as a Yorkie.  I'll admit that my brief research last night turned up several dog breeds from comic and televised appearances, including one in the contemporary "Teen Titans Go!" but there was not really enough source material to go, so I thought I would just go elsewhere.

Ansel always likes an insipidly cute dog, and I thought the contrast between the fluffy face fur and the spandex costume might be nice.  This is the sort of profound thought that I have at midnight.

And pie....of course.  My kids favorite part of the latest TV show was the song about pie.  And they don't particularly like pie.  It doesn't have enough frosting.

Canine Cosplay: Harry as Ace the Bat-Hound

Harry is a rather obliging dog that my kids know in the real world.  While he would probably be willing to put on an Ace outfit if enough dog treats were involved, the canine cosplay in this case is purely imaginary.

We have been working our way through the very extensive DC Super Pets! book series.

Ansel was quite disappointed that I neglected to include his personal favorite Ace the Bat-Hound on this particular napkin.

In my defense, Ace was not included in the book we read last night, "Cat Crime Club" by Steve Korte, art by Art Baltazar.  Like Batman, Ace does not have any actual super powers, so perhaps his interplanetary activities are limited?
