Happy Red, White and Blue Day

Happy Red, White and Blue Day!

July 4th would have been a good day to see “Spider-man: Far From Home”
But we had already seen it on the third.

I felt like there needed to be a Spidey popsicle to go with the Bomb Pop.  My younger son helpfully points out that Spider-man, in all of his iterations, never has blue around his eyes like the popsicle. But I did not design the popsicle, just copied it off google images.

As to why Uncle Sam is giving Peter that weird look...I leave that to your imagination.

As to why I am seem unable to draw fingers today...can’t explain that either.

Following images are Fourth of July napkins from days past, 2017-2014. I left out the bomb pops, since we just revisited those. Don’t know if any sharks or dinosaurs competed in the Nathan’s hot dog eating contest this year...or if the fireworks will be launched from a Kaiju tonite...but here’s hoping.

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Bomb Pop Day/ Throwback Thursday

Happy Last Thursday in June
(It’s National Bomb Pop Day,
Did you know?)

Unfortunately there is no fresh napkin for this year’s observance of this important holiday, so we are revisiting some from days past.

Deadpool was sucking food coloring through his mask back in 2017.
The Minions were offering a treat to Thanos the same year.
....And then to a Tyrannosaurus in 2015.
The Velociraptors date from last summer, but they are out of chronological order because I forgot about them.
And the Predator and Alien were celebrating the Fourth of July with Uncle Sam way back in 2013.

Our kids aren’t much interested in Bomb Pops these days.

It’s hard to eat one in front of the PlayStation.

Fourth of July Snack

We were going to see the latest Jurassic World movie today to celebrate our independence from weekday routine. But one kid was not feeling well enough to consider consuming a large soft drink and a tub of popcorn, so we are festering at home instead.

Alas, no bomb pops were consumed either.

Deadpool Celebrates the 4th of July

Deadpool Celebrates the Fourth of July:

Bomb Pops are definitely more my fixation than that of my sons.  I remember many red, white and blue popsicles from my own childhood. I might have liked them almost as much as fudgsicles. My kids, however, certainly wouldn't say no to one.

They are happy about pretty much anything that comes out of an ice cream truck.  Apparently the truck makes whatever it is taste it so much better. They are totally unmoved by the prospect of fancy gelatos or homemade organic freezer pops or ice creams in interesting flavors.

Perhaps Deadpool might feel the same.

(Yes, he's sucking it right through his mask. Why not?)

Minions Offer Thanos a Bomb Pop

Happy 4th from the Minions and Despicable Thanos:

We saw the new Despicable Me movie yesterday.
And my younger son says he can't wait for "Avengers: Infinity War"

Of course, this image is a retread...or part of a series...

Minions Offer an independence Day Bomb Pop to the T-Rex

Bombs Away.

Our kids love Bomb Pops. These popsicles offer an opportunity to dye one's face (and shirt...and shoes) both red AND blue.

During my early, optimistic parenting years, I often tried to deny my sons the sublime pleasures of hideously artificially dyed frozen treats..."Sure, you can have an Ice, Sweetheart, as long as it's Coconut." Success was limited. In fact, my parents have a multi-photo picture frame that displays a series of snapshots of their grandsons sticking out variously artificially pigmented red, blue, and black tongues.

I'll bet Minions and extinct reptiles don't worry about artificial food coloring in their popsicles.

Happy July 4th From The Predator, Uncle Sam and The Alien

Alien versus Predator is Archer's favorite franchise this week.  He has been very frustrated with me as my plot knowledge only covers the first two Alien movies...and the more recent Prometheus, regrettably.  Somehow I missed all things Predator the first time around.

Bomb Pops were a childhood favorite for me.  Now, of course, I see them as an unfortunate opportunity for my kids to dye their lips, tongues and shoes both blue and red.
