Jumpy Ghostface with Carrot for Ansel

Ansel is still after me to perfect my drawing of Jumpy Ghostface from Hero 108 throwing a weaponized carrot.  His critique this morning:  there should be multiple carrots and they should not have green tops.  But he patted me on the arm and told me it was acceptable anyway.

Lego Clone Commander Wolffe for Ansel

Ansel looked at the napkin this morning and shrieked, "I didn't ask you to take off his helmet!"  At least he was not bothered by my late night lazy and inaccurate perspective on the helmet fin...

Archie from Infect Them All for Archer

Archer's recent love for monsters led him to Infect Them All, a vampire themed game, which much to his delight, stars a character named Archie.  As he has been oblivious to the recent pop culture obsession with vampirism, the topic is pleasantly fresh for Archer.  And the game has an appealingly nasty quality to it.

Clone Commander Wolffe for Ansel

I haven't had a request for a Star Wars character in a long time.  (After a couple of years of almost nothing else for Archer back in his younger days)  Ansel is usually not much for Star Wars, but Commander Wolffe's name alone was enough to encourage him to choose him to overcome his hostility to the franchise.

Dark Knight, Tier 2, for Archer

Archer is still working on Monster Wars, moving up to the Dead Knight, tier 2, and presenting me with additional drawing challenges. Tiers 3 and 4, don't look a lot easier, either.

Captain America for Archer

In honor of Father's Day, we took the boys to see "The Avengers," basically against their will.  About 15 minutes in, they decided it was pretty awesome, despite the absence of Batman.

Lego Avenger Alien and Nightwing for Ansel

Ansel was quite impressed with "The Avengers"- and what super hero appreciating 5 year old american boy would not be?.... but still wanted Lego Nightwing to fight the alien from the movie (one of the Chitauri?) on his napkin.

Dead Knight from Monster Wars for Archer

Archer is really enjoying Monster Wars, a variation on one of his previous favorites, Legendary Wars.  He has been interested in monsters in general recently: particularly if they are cute, with names like "skully."

Jumpy Ghostface from Hero 108 with Carrots for Ansel

Ansel is still quite excited about this character on the Cartoon Network show.  He informed me this morning that the carrots were pointing the wrong way, but magnanimously told me that he liked it anyway.

Red from Sky Kid and Young Justice Nightwing for Archer

The two kids spent last evening acting out an epic air battle with LEGO planes and minifigures which starred Red from Sky Kid and Nightwing (probably the Young Justice version).  But this morning, Archer did not find the Red Nightwing combination to be cool.  Or perhaps he objected to the dorky Captain Morgan pose?  No time for preliminary sketches or revisions in this napkin enterprise, I am afraid, so bad drawing happens.

LEGO Manbat for Archer

The LEGO Manbat from the new product line "Monster Fighters" on a DC Comics Man-Bat style background.  Archer was suddenly very inspired by the LEGO style Manbat and not necessarily with any reference to Batman.  I was obviously perspectivally challenged last night, and bit off more background than I was really able to chew in a late night lunch making session.  But Archer was pleased with it this morning.

Bat Ewok for Ansel

Ansel requested another Bat animal mash-up:  In this case, a Batman inflected version of the LEGO ewok Wicket.  Ansel was inconsolable about my various design choices this morning, however,  he wanted a cape not a glider, and additional characters in the background, of course

Jumpy Ghostface from Hero 108 for Ansel

Ansel's latest television interest which features fighting animals is Hero 108.  I have trouble sorting out the plot and characters, but apparently this character is the king of the rabbits who battles with a spinning jump rope. Wikipedia tells me that the plot is based loosely on an ancient chinese novel.  Ansel was not pleased with my rendition of "Jumpy Ghostface," and wanted me to promise to draw him again in another pose for the next lunch.

Danger Alliance Battles Characters for Archer

Archer particularly likes the supernatural version of Danger Alliance Battles.  And as an educational bonus, he now knows how to spell the word "wraith."

Bat Bat for Archer

Archer recently came to the conclusion that animals wearing Bat gear were not pathetically uncool after all.  He even apologized for "criticizing the Bat Owl napkin." If not uncool, however, the Bat bat, is certainly ridiculous.  This one is in the bank, so to speak, as we are now in between school and camp.

Danger Alliance Rifleman and Sandy for Archer

Archer encountered his favorite mascot over the weekend: Sandy the Seagull of the Brooklyn Cyclones- while fortuitously wearing his very own Cyclones hat.  (Thus Sandy's thumbs up gesture)  The appeal of sharing this encounter with his friends did not, however, upstage the need to include a character from "Danger Alliance Battles" his now most favorite video game.  I had to cover the bayonet on the rifle with something for the Quaker school lunch:  in this case, it is the blue cotton candy consumed at the event with Sandy.

Bat Squirrel for Ansel

Ansel's interest in animals wearing Bat-gear continues.  Ansel says that the Bat Squirrel is saying "Really?" sarcastically to a kid who is trying to grab him, or is somehow antagonizing him- unaware that this is a skilled caped crusader... I guess.  I am not completely clear on the narrative, but the gist is that the Squirrel is in control of the situation.

Ace, Robin and Battlepug for Ansel

Ansel's instructions last night were explicit: Teen Titans Robin and Ace the Bat Hound had to be sitting on Battlepug and Robin needed to be waving his arm and saying "giddy up!" Ansel informed me this morning that the text should be in a word balloon.
